TRAVEL HOCKEY

The highest level of hockey our organization provides and requires a significant commitment from both player and parent. The season consists of approximately 50-60 practices and 40 games from September to early March. Practices and home games are held at one of several local rinks, primarily the Canterbury School in New Milford and The Gunnery in Washington. Away games are played throughout Connecticut along with some in nearby areas of New York and Massachusetts.
Who Is It For?
Children ages 7-18. For the 2016/17 season, that would be birth years 1998 through 2009.
What Makes TRAVEL HOCKEY Different Than LIMITED-TRAVEL HOCKEY?
TRAVEL HOCKEY requires the highest level of commitment and consists of an aggressive schedule of games, practices, and clinics, along with 2 tournaments. LIMITED-TRAVEL HOCKEY plays a reduced game schedule (typically 10-12 games) and approximately 35-40 shared ice practices, along with 8-10 skills clinics.
Placement On A Team
Registration for tryouts must be completed and attending all three (3) tryouts (typically in late March) is highly recommended. Team designation (A,B,C) is classified by the child’s ability demonstrated during the on-ice tryouts. Players are evaluated by IPH Hockey, a third-party organization hired from outside the Northwestern Connecticut Youth Hockey program.
